We are due to leave the ICE building at 8.30am on Monday 8th of April.
Bring £130 for Accommodation and Trips. You may also want to bring some spending money for the town or pub nearby.
We will introduce you to the plan a week or so before we go. I am e-mailing the loan shop to forewarn them of the booking of equipment for the trip to be returned on the Monday following our return.
You will be staying at the Skyewalker Hostel in Portnalong. The hostel has kitchens that we can use to cook in the evening. You need to bring warm waterproof/windproof clothes and something waterproof for your feet. Also bring a towel for showering and washing.
I will get some food and milk in for the first breakfast.
We will be filming every day so come prepared with plenty of SD cards and a means of backing up your footage while on Skye. ie either to your laptop or external hard drive.
There is an interesting news story currently running about land rights and local crofters on the nearby Island of Rassay. Their has been a brutal history of crofters (small scale farmers) being pushed off of their tenant farms by large landowners who wanted to replace them with more profitable sheep farming.
Andy Wightman a well know Land Reform researcher is currently writing about this live issue. It is useful background to the area and issues around land ownership.
