To try and get away from the constant desire to make a conventional narrative I think it will be useful in formulating a range of approaches while on our field trip to foreground the production and manipulation of sound to create an atmosphere and impact.
I want you to bring to the session next week 30 seconds of edited, found sound, that you have recorded yourself, on your phone or other device that you have access to.
The found sounds have a theme of machinery and the noises made by machinery. This could be as diverse as a microwave, vending machine, bus, train, roadworks.
You then need to take elements of these sounds to create a rhythmic piece lasting 30seconds. You can cut the sounds up, layer them, repeat, slow down, speed up, phase in or out.
